The Club supports a number of international rotary projects such as End Polio, the Rotary Shoebox Appeal and Humanitarian Aid after natural disasters.
Rotary has been heavily involved over the years with eradicating polio and has raised millions of pounds from around the world for this cause. For every dollar we have raised Bill Gates has given $2! We are very nearly there and whereas 15-20 years ago there were hundreds and thousands of case of polio we are now down to less than 10 per year. Over 2.5 billion children in 122 countries have been vaccinated thanks to the help of Rotary
However, we are keen to keep the momentum going because continued vaccination is key to the eradication programme. The Purple4Polio is the latest campaign to raise the awareness of the End Polio Programme. The significance of purple, is that a purple dye stamp is used to show when children have been vaccinated.
Watch Bill Gates, earlier this year saying how important Rotary has been in eradicating polio and extending his 2:1 fund matching to eradicate polio.
We will be planting purple crocuses in Eastleigh this autumn to raise awareness of the Polio Eradication Scheme. During the year we sell crocus button holes for this international project.
The Rotary Shoebox Scheme has, over the years, delivered over a million boxes of joy to underprivileged communities across Eastern Europe.
Every year, in time for Christmas, The Rotary Club of Eastleigh organises the collecton of nearly 500 ShoeBoxes packed with toys, clothing, school equipment and toiletries for those who need it most.
We are very grateful for all the schools, church communities and individuals that help with this scheme and if you would like to get involved please contact the Club Secretary

When disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons or floods occur around the world, Rotary are always quick to respond through our support for survival kits such as ShelterBox, AquaBox and Water Survival Box, which provide the basic essentials required in an emergency situation.
The Rotary Club of Eastleigh supports many of these appeals either collecting as a Club or joining together with other clubs in the district.
